Icon of the Seas will begin sailing guests to the Caribbean on January 27th, and the hype around this greatly anticipated ship could not be any greater. She is making history as the largest ship in the world, and will have the ability to accommodate up to 7500 passengers at full capacity! She is the first of the Icon Class of ship, with Star of the Seas not far behind ready to set sail in 2025, and the 3rd Icon Class ship cutting first steel this week with a debut date of 2026!
These ships will be the largest and most innovative cruise ships of our time, and will be introducing many brand new venues that we have not seen before on other Royal vessels. Let's take a look at the new spaces onboard Icon of the Seas:
What's New on Icon
THE PEARL | This massive dazzling sphere is a take on the classic main staircase you see on a cruise ship, but with an iconic Royal Caribbean twist!
THE PEARL CAFE | The pearl cafe will replace Cafe Promenade onboard Icon, with light complimentary light bites, snacks, and coffee.
AQUADOME | This is the Aqua Theater re-imagined. Located in the crown of the ship, the AquaDome features seating in the center, and lounging/observation spaces around it. Royal will also be debuting their first ever food hall- The AquaDome Market, where you can enjoy a wide array of different cuisines, from Greek, to Asian, to French, and more! The shows will be next level on Icon, with performance debuts of “Aqua Nation” and “Pirate’s Vs. Mermaids”. This truly is a new neighborhood, and includes staterooms as well, for those guests who love the entertainment aspect of a cruise ship.
CATEGORY 6 | The water park on Icon is breaking records. Not only is it the largest waterpark at sea with 6 stomach turning thrill slides, but it also boasts the tallest waterslide at sea with The Drop. There are also two different raft slides that you can ride on with the whole family!
THE HIDEAWAY | This is a pool deck space that includes not only hot tubs, but the first suspended infinity pool at sea overlooking the aft of the ship.
CENTRAL PARK | A couple new additions will be found in Central Park on Icon. This includes Izumi, where you can enjoy sit down sushi as well as the hibachi tables. There will also be an additional to-go window where you can order sushi to grab-and-go until as late as 10pm. Bubbles is a champagne window that will be a new concept on Icon, a great spot to grab a glass of bubbly or a Bellini!
THE SURFSIDE FAMILY NEIGHBORHOOD | There has been so much hype around this new, family oriented neighborhood located down the middle of the ship at the aft where the AquaTheater has been located on the Oasis class ships. This is the family fun zone onboard. There are splash pad areas, Baby Bay, an adults pool, and several delicious eateries including Lemon Post, Pier 7, Sugar Beach, and the Surfside Eatery. Not only that, but the Adventure Ocean kids club is just adjacent, and there are many new Surfside Family View Balcony rooms on either side of the Surfside neighborhood, making family fun just an elevator ride away from your accommodation.
THE CROWN'S EDGE | Experience the thrill of a lifetime as you walk out off the edge of the ship during this part skywalk, part ropes course, part thrill ride experience. You are harnessed in, which is good, since at any moment the floor beneath your feet may give out and leave your dangling over the water!
THE EMPIRE SUPPER CLUB - This is a luxurious, eight-course dining experience in jazz club setting where formal attire is required- making it a great option for a romantic date night, or dinner with friends.
