Big changes are coming to Philadelphia in 2026. Not only is the city making preparations to host the county's 250th birthday celebration, but for the first time in years a cruise ship will be making Philly a home port! Norwegian Cruise Line will position Norwegian Jewel in SouthPort Marina Terminal Complex in April, 2026, beginning the season with 7-9 day sailings to Bermuda for the summer. Afterward she will turn her sights north, taking guests on 10-11 night cruises through New England & Canada in the Fall.

David J. Herrera, President of NCL issued a statement about the new positioning: "We remain committed to our guests to create unforgettable memories, so they can vacation better with us. We are particularly proud to partner with PhilaPort to launch cruising in the area, making it even more accessible to the U.S. Mid-Atlantic region."

Norwegian sailing out of Philly is paving a way for other cruise lines to consider this a strong home port. There is a huge potential for a boost in tourism as more and more guests travel into the city to begin their cruise vacation. Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro said in a statement: "With all eyes on Philadelphia as we prepare to host our county's 250th birthday in 2026, the Port will continue to help support and grow Philadelphia tourism to create economic opportunity for our region, workers, and businesses."
